The Casela Bird Park is set in a magnificent site between Bambous and Tamarin in the Riviere Noire district, and hosts some 140 varieties of birds from five continents. The park is small and ideal for a family outing.

There are 85 aviaries, a mini zoo, masses of fragrant flowers, orchids, forest streams and koi ponds. Its also the home to the Giant Aldabra tortoises, tiger, lemur, wallaby, deer and leopard. It’s a great place for lunch with an incredible view over the cane fields to the sea and the neighbouring Yemen deer estate, or you can enjoy sundowners in one of the rustic kiosks which is a definite must for any visitor.

The Mauritian Pink Pigeon is fighting to avoid the fate of the dodo and needs to be seen and supported! If nature is not your passion, and paying activities are - there are various activities such as climbing, mini golf, tilapia fishing, safari tours in a jeep or mini bus (in the Yemen park), trekking, Tyrolean traverses, quad biking and mountain biking.

If that still doesn’t attract you there are pleasant outings where you are welcome to have a tour around the small interactive farm where one can stroke rabbits, deer and pigs... with small waterfalls and other lakes where ducks, swans and flamingos live freely.
